SUPPORTING THE YOUTH OF SWANSEA
As you all know by now, one of the fundamental aims of
“A Touch Far Vetched!” (apart from giving you all a devilishly good read) is to raise money
for the Youth Development department within Swansea City Football Club.
A strong youth set-up producing local home-grown talent is essential in this
day and age and that is why everyone on the “ATFV!” team is committed to
helping the Swans’ youth department in any way that it can.
Admittedly, in the grand scheme of things the amounts of cash we can hand
over are small but believe me when I say that the money does make a
difference. The first five issues (which covered all of last season and the
very end of the season before) saw us donate over
£1,000
to the cause. |
 |
As you will see by
following the links at the base of this page... this money was handed over in a
variety of ways, including straight cash donations, player sponsorship and a
contribution to the Supporters Trust's own youth fundraising scheme. We even
bought Shaun MacDonald a new pair of boots!
And we want to do the same again (donate a thousand pounds that is, not buy
more boots for MacDonald!)…
Issue 9... another hugely successful
edition of “A Touch Far Vetched!” has yielded more much needed funds for
Youth Development at Swansea City Football Club.
The “ATFV!” Grand Gauge has clicked
another couple of notches closer to the magical £1,000 target set for the
season after a cheque for £200 was handed over to Head of Youth David Moss
before the Bristol City match at the Liberty. |

The
videoing of games is done by Joe Taylor, a Swansea University student
studying for a PhD in Sports Science and the service he provides is far more
valuable than a mere 90 minutes of grainy camcorder footage.
Using the latest hi tech equipment, and
no little skill, Joe provides full match coverage, a highlights package of
all the corners and free kicks and a barrage of statistical information.
Armed with this comprehensive
information, Moss is able to gather his squad and go through matches play by
play, pointing out what players have done right and wrong, both collectively
and individually. Showing the players the mistakes they make has far more
impact than merely describing them and so there's far more chance of them
learning from their mistakes - increasing the chances of them becoming
better players.
That’s why the contribution that
“ATFV!” makes, through your support, is so crucial. The sums of money we
deal in are not significant but the services they buy ARE!
So keep buying, keep reading
and keep supporting
Youth Development
at Swansea City Football Club!
